These AR-15 rifles have A1 lower receivers. The upper receivers on these SP-1 models have no Forward Assist, and no Expended Case Defector. They have built in carry handles with A1 style rear sights. The full size SP1 Sporter has a 20-inch barrel while the SP1 Carbine has a 16-inch barrel, both are 1:12 twist. The Carbine weighs 5.8-pounds (empty) and the Sporter weighs 7.5-pounds. These are interesting and lightweight AR15 variants. Finding unfired samples this old is a rare treat, and we were happy to get the chance to photograph them together
